Futures Game 2014 World Team Catchers

The rosters have been revealed for the 2014 Futures Game to be played on July 13 at Target Field, home of the Minnesota Twins. Every Major League team has at least one player on either the US or World roster and some teams have more than one. In this post I'll be going over the catchers on the World team.

Jorge Alfaro is a right-handed catcher with Class A Advanced Myrtle Beach of the Texas Rangers. He has hit .261/.321/.423 with 10 HR, 59 RBI, 52 R, 5 SB in 83 games at Myrtle Beach. He originally signed with the Rangers in 2010 as an amateur free agent out of Columbia. Alfaro turned 21 on June 11. He was born in Sincelejo, Columbia.

Christian Bethancourt is a right-handed catcher with Triple A Gwinnett of the Atlanta Braves. He has hit .273/.304/.372 with 3 HR, 32 RBI, 18 R, 4 SB in 63 games at Gwinnett. He originally signed with the Braves in 2008 as an amateur free agent out of Panama. Bethancourt will be 23 on September 2nd. He was born in Panama City, Panama.
