2014 AL All Star Starters

Here are the American League starters for the 2014 All Star as voted by the fans:

Salvador Perez of the Kansas City Royals was selected at catcher. Prior to the All Star break he hit .283/.329/.437 with 11 HR, 36 RBI, 39 R, 1 SB in 85 games. For his four season MLB career he is hitting .297/.330/.448 with 38 HR, 175 RBI, 145 R, 1 SB in 338 games. This is his second All Star selection. He originally signed with the Royals in 2006 as an amateur free agent out of Venezuela.

Miguel Cabrera of the Detroit Tigers was selected at first base. Prior to the All Star break he hit .306/.364/.534 with 14 HR, 75 RBI, 57 R, 0 SB in 90 games. For his 12 seaon MLB career he is hitting .320/.397/.566 with 379 HR, 1335 RBI, 1121 R, 36 SB in 1750 games. This is his ninth All Star selection. He originally signed with the Marlins in 1999 as an amateur free agent out of Venezuela. 

Robinson Cano of the Seattle Mariners was selected at second base. Prior to the All Star break he hit .334/.393/.462 with 7 HR, 57 RBI, 49 R, 7 SB in 91 games. For his ten season MLB career he is hitting .311/.358/.502 with 211 HR, 879 RBI, 848 R, 45 SB in 1465 games. This is his sixth All Star selection. He originally signed with the Yankees in 2001 as an amateur free agent out of the Dominican Republic. 

Josh Donaldson of the Oakland Athletics was selected at third base. Prior to the All Star break he hit .238/.317/.449 with 20 HR, 65 RBI, 61 R, 3 SB in 92 games. For his four season MLB career he is hitting .266/.340/.457 with 54 HR, 195 RBI, 185 R, 12 SB in 339 games. This is his first All Star selection. He was originally drafted by the Cubs with the 48th pick of the first round in 2007.

Derek Jeter of the New York Yankees was selected at shortstop. Prior to the All Star break he hit .272/.324/.322 with 2 HR, 25 RBI, 31 R, 6 SB in 83 games. For his 20 season MLB career he is hitting .311/.379/.443 with 258 HR, 1286 RBI, 1907 R, 354 SB in 2685 games. This is his 14th All Star selection. He was originally drafted by the Yankees with the sixth pick of the first round in 1992.

Jose Bautista of the Toronto Blue Jays was selected in the outfield. Prior to the All Star Break he hit .292/.409/.502 with 17 HR, 54 RBI, 58 R, 4 SB in 90 games. For his 11 season MLB career he is hitting .257/.365/.488 with 228 HR, 630 RBI, 659 R, 48 SB in 1185 games. This is his fifth All Star selection. He was originally drafted by the Pirates in the 20th round in 2000. 

Adam Jones of the Baltimore Orioles was selected in the outfield. Prior to the All Star break he hit .301/.324/.486 with 16 HR, 54 RBI, 54 R, 4 SB in 94 games. For his nine season MLB career he is hitting .281/.322/.462 with 156 HR, 535 RBI, 567 R, 78 SB in 1040 games. This is his fourth All Star selection. He was originally drafted by the Mariners with the 37th pick of the first round in 2003.

Mike Trout of the Los Angeles Angels was selected in the outfield. Prior to the All Star break he hit .310/.400/.606 with 22 HR, 73 RBI, 65 R, 10 SB in 90 games. For his four season MLB career he is hitting .313/.403/.557 with 84 HR, 269 RBI, 323 R, 96 SB in 426 games. This is his third All Star selection. He was originally drafted by the Angels with the 25th pick of the first round in 2009.

Nelson Cruz of the Baltimore Orioles was selected at DH. Prior to the All Star break he hit .287/.353/.570 with 28 HR, 74 RBI, 56 R, 3 SB in 93 games. For his ten season MLB career he is hitting .270/.330/.504 with 185 HR, 563 RBI, 460 R, 68 SB in 897 games. This is his third All Star selection. He originally signed with the Mets in 1998 as an amateur free agent out of the Dominican Republic.
