Greg Maddux was inducted into the MLB Hall of Fame class of 2014 along with Bobby Cox, Tom Glavine, Tony La Russa, Frank Thomas and Joe Torre. Maddux was a RHP with 23 seasons MLB experience playing with the Chicago Cubs (1986-1992, 2004-2006), Atlanta Braves (1994-2003), Los Angeles Dodgers (2006, 2008) and San Diego Padres (2007-2008). For his MLB career he was 355-227, 3.16 ERA, 3371 K, 1.14 WHIP, 109 complete games, 35 shut outs in 5008.1 IP over 744 games.
I believe his three best seasons were 1995 when he was 19-2, 1.63 ERA, 181 K, 0.81 WHIP, 10 complete games, 3 shut outs in 209.2 IP over 28 games, 1994 when he was 16-6, 1.56 ERA, 156 K, 0.90 WHIP, 10 complete games, 3 shut outs in 202.0 IP over 25 games and 1997 when he was 19-4, 2.20 ERA, 177 K, 0.95 WHIP, 5 complete games, 2 shut outs in 232.2 IP over 33 games.
Maddux won four consecutive Cy Young Awards in 1992 when he was 20-11, 2.18 ERA, 199 K, 1.01 WHIP, 9 complete games, 4 shut outs in 268.0 IP over 35 games, 1993 when he was 20-10, 2.36 ERA, 197 K, 1.05 WHIP, 8 complete games, 1 shut out in 267.0 IP over 36 games, 1994 and 1995. He also finished second in NL Cy Young voting in 1997 and third in 1989 and 2000.
Maddux led the National League in wins in 1992, 1994 and 1995. He led the NL in ERA in 1993, 1994, 1995 and 1998 (2.22). He led the NL in WHIP in 1993, 1994, 1995 and 1998 (0.98). He led the NL in complete games in 1993, 1994 and 1995. He led the NL in shut outs in 1994, 1995, 1998 (5), 2000 (3) and 2001 (3).
He was an All-Star eight times (1988, 1992, 1994-1998, 2000). He won a MLB record 18 Gold Glove Awards (1990-2002, 2004-2008). Maddux won the World Series Championship in 1995 with the Braves.
