Jason Grilli traded to Angels

Jason Grilli was traded by the Pittsburgh Pirates to the Los Angeles Angels on June 27, 2014. In exchange the Pirates received Ernesto Frieri.

RHP Grilli prior to the trade was 0-2, 4.87 ERA, 21 K, 1.62 WHIP, 11 SV in 20.1 IP over 22 games with the Pirates in 2014. Over 12 MLB seasons including the Pirates, Rangers, Rockies, Tigers, White Sox and Marlins he is 22-30, 4.15 ERA, 491 K, 1.38 WHIP, 49 SV in 526.2 IP over 416 games. He was originally drafted by the Giants with the fourth pick of the first round in 1997. Grilli will be 38 on November 11.

RHP Frieri prior to the trade was 0-3, 6.39 ERA, 38 K, 1.36 WHIP, 11 SV in 31.0 IP over 34 games with the Angels in 2014. Over six MLB seasons including the Angels and Padres he is 10-13, 3.33 ERA, 357 K, 1.21 WHIP, 71 SV in 267.1 IP over 270 games. He originally signed with the Padres in 2003 as an amateur free agent out of Columbia. Frieri turned 29 on July 19.
