2014 AL All Star Reserves

Here are the American League reserves for the 2014 All Star game:

First baseman Jose Abreu of the Chicago White Sox is in his first All Star game. Prior to the All Star break in his first MLB season he hit .292/.342/.630 with 29 HR, 73 RBI, 49 R, 1 SB in 82 games. He signed with the White Sox in 2013 as a free agent out of Cuba.

Second baseman Jose Altuve of the Houston Astros is in his second All Star game. Prior to the All Star break he hit .335/.373/.436 with 2 HR, 27 RBI, 49 R, 41 SB in 93 games. For his four season MLB career he is hitting .295/.334/.389 with 16 HR, 128 RBI, 219 R, 116 SB in 449 games. He originally signed with the Astros in 2007 as an amateur free agent out of Venezuela.

Shortstop Erick Aybar of the Los Angeles Angels is in his first All Star game. Prior to the All Star break he hit .283/.320/.411 with 6 HR, 50 RBI, 47 R, 11 SB in 92 games. For his nine season MLB career he is hitting .278/.317/.388 with 44 HR, 355 RBI, 468 R, 121 SB in 1000 games. He originally signed with the Angels in 2002 as an amateur free agent out of the Dominican Republic.

Third baseman Adrian Beltre of the Texas Rangers is in his fourth All Star game. Prior to the All Star break he hit .337/.383/.534 with 13 HR, 51 RBI, 51 R, 1 SB in 81 games. For his 17 season MLB career he is hitting .284/.336/.480 with 389 HR, 1358 RBI, 1228 R, 117 SB in 2357 games. He originally signed with the Dodgers in 1994 as an amateur free agent out of the Dominican Republic.

Outfielder Michael Brantley of the Cleveland Indians is in his first All Star game. Prior to the All Star break he hit .322/.382/.519 with 15 HR, 63 RBI, 63 R, 10 SB in 90 games. For his six season MLB career he is hitting .284/.338/.402 with 41 HR, 275 RBI, 303 R, 66 SB in 604 games. He was originally drafted by the Brewers in the seventh round in 2005.

Outfielder Yoenis Cespedes of the Oakland Athletics i sin his first All Star game. Prior to the All Star break he hit .246/.299/.442 with 14 HR, 56 RBI, 53 R, 1 SB in 90 games. For his three season MLB career he is hitting .260/.318/.465 with 63 HR, 218 RBI, 197 R, 24 SB in 354 games. He originally signed with the Athletics in 2012 as an amateur free agent out of Cuba.

First baseman Edwin Encarnacion of the Toronto Blue Jays is in his second All Star game. Prior to the All Star break he hit .277/.368/.591 with 26 HR, 70 RBI, 57 R, 2 SB in 88 games. For his ten season MLB career he is hitting .266/.349/.488 with 221 HR, 676 RBI, 618 R, 51 SB in 1167 games. He was originally drafted by the Rangers in the ninth round in 2000. 

Outfielder Alex Gordon of the Kansas City Royals is in his second All Star game. Prior to the All Star break he hit .268/.348/.425 with 9 HR, 44 RBI, 47 R, 6 SB in 88 games. For his eight season MLB career he is hitting .269/.345/.435 with 111 HR, 445 RBI, 525 R, 73 SB in 964 games. He was originally drafted by the Royals with the second pick of the first round in 2005.

Second baseman Ian Kinsler of the Detroit Tigers is in his fourth All Star game. Prior to the All Star break he hit .303/.337/.470 with 11 HR, 51 RBI, 64 R, 10 SB in 90 games. Catcher Matt Wieters of the Baltimore Oriole is in his third Al Star game. Prior to the All Star break he hit .308/.339/.500 with 5 HR, 18 RBI, 13 R, 0 SB in 26 games.
