Tommy Milone was traded by the Oakland Athletics to the Minnesota Twins on July 31, 2014. The Athletics in exchange received Sam Fuld.
LHP Milone had split 2014 between Triple A Sacramento and the Athletics. He was 1-1, 6.43 ERA, 17 K, 1.76 WHIP in 21.0 IP over 4 games at Sacramento and 6-3, 3.55 ERA, 61 K, 1.22 WHIP in 96.1 IP over 16 games with the Athletics. Over four MLB seasons with the Athletics and Nationals he is 32-22, 3.84 ERA, 339 K, 1.26 WHIP in 468.2 IP over 80 games. He was originally drafted by the Nationals in the tenth round in 2008 and was traded to the Athletics in 2011. Milone turned 27 on February 16.
Fuld is an outfielder who had started the 2014 season with the Athletics and hit .200/.273/.433 with 1 HR, 4 RBI, 5 R, 1 SB in 7 games. The Twins selected him off waivers on April 20 and he split time between Double A New Britain and the Twins. He hit .429/.500/.786 with 1 HR, 2 RBI, 4 R, 0 SB in 4 games at New Britain and .274/.370/.354 with 1 HR, 17 RBI, 15 R, 12 SB in 53 games with the Twins. Over seven MLB seasons between the Twins, Athletics, Rays and Cubs he has hit .240/.323/.337 with 8 HR, 75 RBI, 123 R, 50 SB in 426 games. He was originally drafted by the Cubs in the tenth round in 2004. Fuld will be 33 on November 20.
