Bobby Cox was inducted into the MLB Hall of Fame class of 2014 along with Tom Glavine, Tony La Russa, Greg Maddux, Frank Thomas and Joe Torre. Cox was a third baseman with two seasons of MLB experience playing with the New York Yankees (1968-1969). For his MLB career he hit .225/.310/.309 with 9 HR, 58 RBI, 50 R, 3 SB in 220 games.
However his was his career as manager that warranted his induction to the Hall of Fame by the Veteran's Committee. He was manager of the Atlanta Braves (1978-1981) with a 266-323 record, Toronto Blue Jays (1982-1985) with a 355-292 record and Atlanta Braves (1990-2010) with an 1882-1386 record. His 2504 career wins ranks fourth all time. He won the American League Manager of the year in 1985 and the National League Manager of the Year in 1991, 2004 and 2005. Cox won the World Series Championship in 1977 as a member of the Yankees coaching staff and in 1995 with the Braves.
