Tony La Russa was inducted into the MLB Hall of Fame class of 2014 along with Bobby Cox, Tom Glavine, Greg Maddux, Frank Thomas and Joe Torre. LaRussa was a 2B\SS with six seasons MLB experience playing with the Kansas City Athletics (1963), Oakland Athletics (1968-1971), Atlanta Braves (1971) and Chicago Cubs (1973). For his MLB career he hit .199/.292/.250 with 0 HR, 7 RBI, 15 R, 0 SB in 132 games.
However his was his career as manager that warranted his induction to the Hall of Fame by the Veteran's Committee. He was manager for the Chicago White Sox (1979-1986) with a 522-510 record, Oakland Athletics (1986-1995) with a 798-673 record and St Louis Cardinals (1996-2011) with a 1408-1182 record. His 2728 career wins ranks third all time. He won the American League Manager of the Year in 1983, 1988 and 1992 and won National League Manager of the Year in 2002. La Russa won the World Series Championship in 1989 with the Athletics and in 2006 and 2011 with the Cardinals.
