2014 NL All Star Reserves

Here are the National League reserves for the 2014 All Star game:

RHP Henderson Alvarez of the Miami Marlins is in his first All Star game. He was selected as the DH. Prior to the All Star break he was 6-4, 2.63 ERA, 73 K, 1.26 WHIP in 120.0 IP over 19 games. For his four season MLB career he is 21-27, 3.84 ERA, 249 K, 1.29 WHIP in 473.2 IP over 77 games. He originally signed with the Blue Jays in 2006 as an amateur free agent out of Venezuela.

Outfielder Charlie Blackmon of the Colorado Rockies is in his first All Star game. Prior to the All Star break he hit .306/.350/.480 with 14 HR, 52 RBI, 53 R, 18 SB in 93 games. For his four season MLB career he is hitting .297/.334/.444 with 23 HR, 91 RBI, 112 R, 31 SB in 244 games. He was originally drafted by the Rockies in the second round in 2008.

Third baseman Matt Carpenter of the St Louis Cardinals is in his second All Star game. Prior to the All Star break he hit .283/.377/.382 with 4 HR, 34 RBI, 60 R, 3 SB in 95 games. For his four season MLB career he is hitting .300/.380/.445 with 21 HR, 158 RBI, 230 R, 7 SB in 373 games. He was originally drafted by the Cardinals in the 13th round in 2009.

Shortstop Starlin Castro of the Chicago Cubs is in his third All Star game. Prior to the All Star game he hit .276/.326/.440 with 11 HR, 52 RBI, 43 R, 3 SB in 94 games. For his five season MLB career he is hitting .282/.322/.409 with 48 HR, 281 RBI, 324 R, 69 SB in 700 games. He originally signed with the Cubs in 2006 as an amateur free agent out of the Dominican Republic.

Third baseman Todd Frazier of the Cincinnati Reds is in his first All Star game. Prior to the All Star break he hit .290/.353/.500 with 19 HR, 53 RBI, 57 R, 14 SB in 94 games. For his four season MLB career he is hitting .259/.327/.460 with 63 HR, 208 RBI, 192 R, 24 SB in 413 games. He was originally drafted by the Reds with the 34th pick of the first round in 2007.

First baseman Freddie Freeman of the Atlanta Braves is in his second All Star game. Prior to the All Star break he hit .295/.384/.495 with 13 HR, 52 RBI, 64 R, 0 SB in 95 games. For his five season MLB career he is hitting .287/.363/.471 with 81 HR, 332 RBI, 314 R, 7 SB in 566 games. He was originally drafted by the Braves in the second round in 2007.

Second baseman Dee Gordon of the Los Angeles Dodgers is in his first All Star game. Prior to the All Star break he hit .292/.344/.398 with 2 HR, 25 RBI, 52 R, 43 SB in 91 games. For his four season MLB career he is hitting .269/.317/.344 with 4 HR, 59 RBI, 133 R, 109 SB in 272 games. He was originally drafted by the Dodgers in the fourth round in 2008.

Outfielder Josh Harrison of the Pittsburgh Pirates is in his first All Star game. Prior to the All Star break he hit .297/.333/.450 with  HR, 28 RBI, 34 R, 9 SB in 79 games. For his four season MLB career he is hitting .265/.298/.393 with 12 HR, 74 RBI, 99 R, 22 SB in 308 games. He was originally drafted by the Cubs in the sixth round in 2008.

Catcher Devin Mesoraco of the Cincinnati Reds is in his first All Star game. Prior to the All Star break he hit .304/.375/.609 with 16 HR, 45 RBI, 32 R, 1 SB in 60 games. For his four season MLB career he is hitting .247/.308/.428 with 32 HR, 107 RBI, 85 R, 2 SB in 235 games. He was originally drafted by the Reds with the 15th pick of the first round in 2007.

Catcher Yadier Molina of the St Louis Cardinals is in his sixth All Star game. Prior to the All Star break he hit .287/.341/.409 with 7 HR, 30 RBI, 30 R, 1 SB in 83 games. For his 11 season MLB career he has hit .284/.339/.404 with 96 HR, 576 RBI, 441 R, 41 SB in 1301 games. He was originally drafted by the Cardinals in the fourth round in 2000.

Catcher Miguel Montero of the Arizona Diamondbacks is in his second All Star game. Prior to the All Star break he hit .262/.344/.416 with 11 HR, 52 RBI, 32 R, 0 SB in 85 games. For his nine season MLB career he is hitting .267/.345/.429 with 95 HR, 428 RBI, 357 R, 2 SB in 855 games. Second baseman Daniel Murphy of the New York Mets is in his first All Star game. Prior to the All Star break he hit .294/.342/.413 with 7 HR, 37 RBI, 56 R, 11 SB in 92 games. For his six season MLB career he is hitting .290/.334/.422 with 46 HR, 309 RBI, 343 R, 53 SB in 722 games. He was originally drafted by the Mets in the 13th round in 2006.

Outfielder Hunter Pence of the San Francisco Giants is in his third All Star game. Prior to the All Star break he hit .297/.355/.465 with 12 HR, 33 RBI, 67 R, 8 SB in 96 games. For his eight season MLB career he is hitting .286/.340/.475 with 177 HR, 648 RBI, 633 R, 97 SB in 1152 games. He was originally drafted by the Astros in the second round in 2004.

First baseman Anthony Rizzo of the Chicago Cubs is in his first All Star. Prior to the All Star break he hit .275/.381/.499 with 20 HR, 49 RBI, 62 R, 2 SB in 93 games. For his four season MLB career he is hitting .247/.338/.433 with 59 HR, 186 RBI, 186 R, 13 SB in 389 games. He was originally drafted by the Red Sox in the sixth round in 2007.
