Joe Thatcher traded to Angels

Joe Thatcher was traded by the Arizona Diamondbacks to the Los Angeles Angels on July 5, 2014 along with Tony Campana. In exchange the Diamondbacks received Zach Borenstein and Joey Krehbiel. 

LHP Thatcher was 1-0, 2.63 ERA, 25 K, 1.08 WHIP in 24.0 IP over 37 games with the Diamondbacks. Over an eight season MLB career with the Diamondbacks and Padres he is 9-12, 3.26 ERA, 242 K, 1.27 WHIP, 1 SV in 231.2 IP over 346 games. He originally started pitching in the Independent Leagues and his contract was purchased by the Milwaukee Brewers in 2005. The Brewers traded him to the Padres in 2007 and he was traded to the Diamondbacks in 2013. Thatcher will be 33 on October 4th.

Campana is an outfielder who has split 2014 between Triple A Reno and the Diamondbacks. He hit .288/.343/.368 with 0 HR, 17 RBI, 31 R, 8 SB in 47 games at Reno and .150/.164/.200 with 0 HR, 3 RBI, 4 R, 4 SB in 26 games with the Diamondbacks. Over his four season MLB career with the Diamondbacks and Cubs he has hit .246/.294/.286 with 1 HR, 14 RBI, 64 R, 66 SB in 239 games. He was originally drafted by the Cubs in the 13th round in 2008. Campana turned 28 on May 30.

Borenstein is an outfielder who had split 2014 between Double A Arkansas and Triple A Salt Lake. He hit .266/.338/.440 with 5 HR, 28 RBI, 23 R, 6 SB in 48 games at Arkansas and .256/.279/.342 with 2 HR, 22 RBI, 11 R, 0 SB in 30 games at Salt Lake. He was the Angels 2013 Minor League Player of the Year. He was originally drafted by the Angels in the 23rd round in 2011. Bornestein will be 24 on July 23.

RHP Krehbiel split 2014 between Class A Burlington and Class A Advanced Inland Empire. He was 0-0, 1.93 ERA, 17 K, 1.00 WHIP, 5 SV in 14.0 IP over 13 games at Burlington and 0-0, 2.25 ERA, 6 K, 0.75 WHIP in 4.0 IP over 4 games at Inland Empire. He was originally drafted by the Angels in the 12th round in 2011. Krehbiel turned 21 on December 20.
