Chase Headley traded to Yankees

Chase Headley was traded by the San Diego Padres to the New York Yankees on July 22, 2014. In exchange the Padres received Yangervis Solarte and Rafael De Paula.

Headley is a 3B\OF who prior to the trade split 2014 between Class A Advanced Lake Elsinore wheile rehabbing and the Padres. He hit .333/.429/.417 with 0 HR, 2 RBI, 1 R, 0 SB in 4 games at Lake Elsinore and .229/.296/.355 with 7 HR, 32 RBI, 27 R, 4 SB in 77 games with the Padres. He had eight seasons MLB experience with the Padres as he hit .266/.346/.410 with 87 HR, 401 RBI, 398 R, 21 SB in 908 games. He was originally drafted by the Padres in the second round in 2005. HEadley turned 30 on May 9th.

Solarte is a 3B\2B\SS who prior to the trade split 2014 between Triple A Scranton/Wilkes-Barre and the Yankees. He hit .600/.619/.850 with 0 HR, 5 RBI, 3 R, 0 SB in 5 games at Scranton/Wilkes-Barre and .254/.337/.381 with 6 HR, 31 RBI, 26 R, 0 SB in 75 games with the Yankees. He originally signed with the Twins in 2005 as an amateur free agent out of Venezuela. Solarte turned 27 on July 7th.

RHP De Paula pitched at Class A Advanced Tampa prior to the trade as he was 6-5, 4.15 ERA, 104 K, 1.42 WHIP in 89.0 IP over 20 games. He originally signed with the Yankees in 2010 as an amateur free agent out of the Dominican Republic. De Paula turned 23 on March 24.
