This is the third installment of a new weekly series where I will look at players with similar names. The purpose is to sort out who is who and clear up any confusion. This week we will look at Dan and Daniel Robertson.
Dan Robertson is an outfielder who started the season at Triple A El Paso of the San Diego Padres where he hit .364/.391/.727 with 2 HR, 5 RBI, 6 R, 0 SB in 5 games. The Texas Rangers then purchased his contract on April 23 and he has split his time between Triple A Round Rock and the Rangers. He has hit .250/.364/.464 with 1 HR, 3 RBI, 6 R, 2 SB in 8 games at Round Rock and .242/.286/.288 with 0 HR, 6 RBI, 10 R, 2 SB in 30 games with the Rangers. Robertson is right-handed and is 5-foot-8 and 170. He was originally drafted by the Padres in the 33rd round in 2008 out of Oregon State. Robertson will be 29 on September 30.
Daniel Robertson is a SS/3B at Class A Advanced Stockton of the Oakland Athletics. He has hit .296/.400/.467 with 12 HR, 40 RBI, 69 R, 2 SB in 90 games at Stockton. Robertson is right-handed and is 6-foot and 190. He was originally drafted by the Athletics with the 34th pick of the first round in 2012 out of Upland High School in Upland, CA. Robertson turned 20 on March 22.
