Alex Sogard was traded by the Houston Astros to the Arizona Diamondbacks on July 7, 2014. In exchange the Astros received Cesar Carrasco.
LHP Sogard pitched at Double A Corpus Christi prior to the trade where he was 1-1, 2.91 ERA, 25 K, 1.22 WHIP, 2 SV in 43.1 IP over 25 games. He was originally drafted by the Astros in the 26th round in 2010. Sogard will be 27 on July 25.
Carrasco is a 1B\3B who played at Class A Hillsboro prior to the trade where he hit .192/.214/.308 with 0 HR, 4 RBI, 2 R, 0 SB in 7 games. He originally signed with the Diamondbacks in 2012 as an amateur free agent out of the Dominican Republic. Carrasco will be 21 on October 3rd.
