Jeff Francis traded to Yankees
Jeff Francis was traded by the Oakland Athletics to the New York Yankees on July 11, 2014 along with cash for a player to be named later. Prior to the trade the LHP had split 2014 between Triple A Louisville and the Cincinnati Reds and then the Athletics after he was selected off waivers. He was 4-3, 3.33 ERA, 45 K, 1.31 WHIP in 48.2 IP over 8 games at Louisville, 0-1, 5.40 ERA, 4 K, 1.00 WHIP in 5.0 IP in 1 game with the Reds and 0-1, 6.08 ERA, 10 K, 1.05 WHIP, 1 SV in 13.1 IP over 9 games with the Athletics. Over his ten season MLB career with the Athletics, Reds, Royals and Rockies he is 70-80, 4.95 ERA, 847 K, 1.44 WHIP, 1 SV in 1267.1 IP over 238 games. He was originally drafted by the Rockies with the ninth pick of the first round in 2002. Francis turned 33 on January 8th.
