John Lackey traded to Cardinals

John Lackey was traded by the Boston Red Sox to the St Louis Cardinals on July 31, 2014 along with Corey Littrell. The Red Sox in exchange received Allen Craig and Joe Kelly.

RHP Lackey was 11-7, 3.60 ERA, 116 K, 1.23 WHIP in 137.1 IP over 21 games with the Red Sox in 2014. Over 12 MLB seasons with the Red Sox and Angels he is 149-114, 4.02 ERA, 1742 K, 1.32 WHIP in 2202.2 IP over 345 games. He was originally drafted by the Angels in the second round in 1999. Lackey will be 36 on October 23.

LHP Littrell was 5-5, 3.60 ERA, 91 K, 1.39 WHIP in 100.0 IP over 19 games at Class A Advanced Salem in 2014. He was originally drafted by the Red Sox in the fifth round in 2013. Littrell turned 22 on March 21.

Craig is an OF\1B who hit .237/.291/.346 with 7 HR, 44 RBI, 34 R, 1 SB in 97 games with the Cardinals in 2014. Over five MLB seasons with the Cardinals he hit .291/.343/.460 with 57 HR, 291 RBI, 226 R, 10 SB in 469 games. He was originally drafted by the Cardinals in the eighth round in 2006. Craig turned 30 on July 18.

RHP Kelly had split 2014 between Triple A Memphis and the Cardinals. He was 0-0, 2.61 ERA, 4 K, 1.36 WHIP in 10.1 IP over 3 games at Memphis and 2-2, 4.37 ERA, 25 K, 1.46 WHIP in 35.0 IP over 7 games with the Cardinals. Over three MLB seasons with the Cardinals he was 17-14, 3.25 ERA, 179 K, 1.38 WHIP in 266.0 IP over 68 games. He was originally drafted by the Cardinals in the third round in 2009. Kelly turned 26 on June 9th.
