The rosters have been revealed for the 2014 Futures Game to be played on July 13 at Target Field, home of the Minnesota Twins. Every Major League team has at least one player on either the US or World roster and some teams have more than one. In this post I'll be going over the catchers on the US team.
Kevin Plawecki is a right-handed catcher who has split 2014 between Double A Binghamton and Triple A Las Vegas of the New York Mets. He hit .326/.378/.487 with 6 HR, 43 RBI, 33 R, 0 SB in 58 games at Binghamton and .205/.311/.333 with 1 HR, 9 RBI, 5 R, 0 SB in 13 games at Las Vegas. He was originally drafted by the Mets with the 35th pick of the first round in 2012. Plawecki turned 23 on February 26. He was born in Carmel, Indiana.
Justin O'Conner is a right-handed catcher with Class A Advanced Charlotte of the Tampa Bay Rays. He has hit .257/.294/.442 with 6 HR, 31 RBI, 28 R, 0 SB in 65 games at Charlotte. He was originally drafted by the Rays with the 31st pick of the first round in 2010. O'Conner turned 22 on March 31. He was born in Muncie, Indiana.
