The rosters have been revealed for the 2014 Futures Game to be played on July 13 at Target Field, home of the Minnesota Twins. Every Major League team has at least one player on either the US or World roster and some teams have more than one. In this post I'll be going over the outfielders on the World team.
Dariel Alvarez is a right-handed outfielder with Double A Bowie of the Baltimore Orioles. He has hit .308/.331/.489 with 14 HR, 67 RBI, 52 R, 7 SB in 90 games at Bowie. He originally signed a minor league contract with the Orioles in 2013. Alvarez will be 26 on November 7th. He was born in Camaguey, Cuba.
Gabriel Guerrero is a right-handed outfielder with Class A Advanced High Desert of the Seattle Mariners. He has hit .297/.340/.431 with 9 HR, 60 RBI, 64 R, 14 SB in 86 games at High Desert. Guerrero turned 20 on December 11. He was born in Nizao, Dominican Republic.
Steven Moya is a left-handed hitting outfielder with Double A Erie of the Detroit Tigers. He has hit .265/.295/.545 with 22 HR, 74 RBI, 52 R, 12 SB in 88 games at Erie. He originally signed with the Tigers in 2008 as an amateur free agent out of Puerto Rico. Moya will be 23 on September 8th. He was born in Rio Piedras, Puerto Rico.
Dalton Pompey is a switch-hitting outfielder who has split 2014 between Class A Advanced Dunedin and Double A New Hampshire of the Toronto Blue Jays. He has hit .319/.397/.471 with 6 HR, 34 RBI, 49 R, 29 SB in 70 games at Dunedin and .167/.273/.292 with 1 HR, 5 RBI, 7 R, 2 SB in 14 games at New Hampshire. He was originally drafted by the Blue Jays in the 16th round in 2010. Pompey turned 21 on December 11. He was born in Mississauga, Ontario, Canada.
Domingo Santana is a right-handed outfielder who has split 2014 between Triple A Oklahoma City and the Houston Astros. He has hit .299/.381/.491 with 13 HR, 53 RBI, 51 R, 6 SB in 88 games at Oklahoma City and .000/.000/.000 with 0 HR, 0 RBI, 1 R, 0 SB in 4 games with the Astros. He originally signed with the Phillies in 2009 as an amateur free agent out of the Dominican Republic. Santana will be 22 on August 5th. He was born in Santo Domingo, Dominican Republic.
