Futures Game 2014 World Team Infield

The rosters have been revealed for the 2014 Futures Game to be played on July 13 at Target Field, home of the Minnesota Twins. Every Major League team has at least one player on either the US or World roster and some teams have more than one. In this post I'll be going over the infielders on the World team.

Javier Baez is a right-handed shortstop with Triple A Iowa of the Chicago Cubs. He has hit .240/.305/448 with 14 HR, 53 RBI, 47 R, 15 SB in 83 games at Iowa. He was originally drafted by the Cubs with the ninth pick of the first round in 2011. Baez turned 21 on December 1st. He was born in Bayamon, Puerto Rico.

Carlos Correa is a right-handed shortstop with Class A Advanced Lancaster of the Houston Astros. He has hit .325/.416/.510 with 6 HR, 57 RBI, 50 R, 20 SB in 62 games at Lancaster. The Astros originally drafted him first overall in 2012 out of Puerto Rico. Correa will be 20 on September 22. He was born in Ponce, Puerto, Rico.

Maikel Franco is a right-handed third baseman with Triple A Lehigh Valley of the Philadelphia Phillies. He has hit .233/.286/.369 with 6 HR, 42 RBI, 37 R, 1 SB in 86 games at Lehigh Valley. He originally signed with the Phillies in 2010 as an amateur free agent out of the Dominican Republic. Franco will be 22 on August 26. He was born in Azua, Dominican Republic.

Rosell Herrera is a switch-hitting shortstop at Class A Advanced Modesto of the Colorado Rockies. He has hit .266/.322/.359 with 3 HR, 19 RBI, 23 R, 7 SB in 49 games at Modesto. He originally signed with the Rockies in 2009 as an amateur free agent out of the Dominican Republic. Herrera will be 22 on October 16. He was born in Santo Domingo, Dominican Republic.

Francisco Lindor is a switch-hitting shortstop with Double A Akron of the Cleveland Indians. He has hit .282/.358/.399 with 6 HR, 45 RBI, 49 R, 23 SB in 81 games at Akron. He was originally drafted by the Indians with the eighth pick in the first round in 2011. Lindor will be 21 on November 14. He was born in Caguas, Puerto Rico.

Renato Nunez is a right-handed third baseman at Class A Advanced Stockton of the Oakland Athletics. He has hit .282/.348/.552 with 21 HR, 61 RBI, 57 R, 1 SB in 81 games. He originally signed with the Athletics in 2010 as an amateur free agent out of Venezuela. Nunez turned 20 on April 4th. He was born in Valencia, Venzuela.

Jose Peraza is a right-handed second baseman who has split 2014 between Class A Advanced Lynchburg and Double A Mississippi of the Atlanta Braves. He has hit .342/.365/.454 with 1 HR, 27 RBI, 44 R, 35 SB in 66 games at Lynchburg and .358/.388/.481 with 1 HR, 8 RBI, 16 R, 7 SB in 18 games at Mississippi. He originally signed with the Braves in 2010 as an amateur free agent out of Venezuela. Peraza turned 20 on April 30. He was born in Barinas, Venezuela. 

Jose Rondon is a right-handed shortstop who has split 2014 between Rookie Arizona and Class A Advanced Inland Empire of the Los Angeles Angels. He has hit .125/.300/.125 with 0 HR, 0 RBI, 3 R, 2 SB in 2 games at Arizona and .329/.365/.420 with 0 HR, 24 RBI, 37 R, 7 SB in 69 games at Inland Empire. He originally signed with the Angels in 2011 as an amateur free agent out of Venezuela. Rondon turned 20 on March 3rd. He was born in Villa de Cura, Venezuela. 

Kennys Vargas is a switch-hitting first baseman with Double A New Britain of the Minnesota Twins. He has hit .291/.364/.480 with 15 HR, 58 RBI, 45 R, 0 SB in 83 games. He originally signed with the Twins in 2009 as an amateur free agent out of Puerto Rico. Vargas will be 24 on August 1st. He was born in Canovanas, Puerto Rico.
