Tyler Clippard traded to Athletics

Tyler Clippard was traded by the Washington Nationals to the Oakland Athletics on January 14, 2015. In exchange the Nationals received Yunel Escobar.

RHP Clippard in 2014 was 7-4, 2.18 ERA, 82 K, 1.00 WHIP, .188 BAA, 1 SV in 70.1 IP over 75 games with the Nationals. Over eight MLB seasons with the Nationals and Yankees he was 37-25, 2.88 ERA, 548 K, 1.08 WHIP, .191 BAA, 34 SV in 491.0 IP over 420 games. He was originally drafted by the Yankees in the ninth round in 2003 and traded to the Nationals in 2007. Clippard turned 30 on February 14.

Escobar was traded to the Athletics earlier in the week.
