Justin Ruggiano traded to Mariners

Justin Ruggiano was traded by the Chicago Cubs to the Seattle Mariners on December 17, 2014. In exchange the Cubs received Matt Brazis.

Justin Ruggiano is an outfielder who split 2014 between Triple A Iowa and the Cubs. He hit .143/.280/.190 with 0 HR, 0 RBI, 3 R, 0 SB in 6 games at Iowa and .281/.337/.429 with 6 HR, 28 RBI, 29 R, 2 SB in 81 games with the Cubs. Over six MLB seasons with the Cubs, Marlins and Rays he hit .257/.319/.431 with 43 HR, 137 RBI, 138 R, 34 SB in 398 games. He was originally drafted by the Dodgers in the 25th round in 2004. Ruggiano will be 33 on April 12.

RHP Brazis split 2014 between Class A Advanced High Desert and Double A Jackson. He was 3-0, 2.97 ERA, 50 K, 1.07 WHIP, .230 BAA, 4 SV in 39.1 IP over 23 games at High Desert and 1-1, 1.64 ERA, 34 K, 0.91 WHIP, .179 BAA, 2 SV in 33.0 IP over 17 games at Jackson. He was originally drafted by the Mariners in the 28th round in 2012. Brazis will be 26 on September 6th.
