Manny Banuelos traded to Braves

Manny Banuelos was traded by the New York Yankees to the Atlanta Braves on January 1, 2015. In exchange the Yankees received Chasen Shreve and David Carpenter.

LHP Banuelos split 2014 between Class A Advanced Tampa, Double A Trenton and Triple A Scranton/Wilkes-Barre. He was 0-0, 2.92 ERA, 14 K, 0.97 WHIP, .213 BAA in 12.2 IP over 5 games at Tampa, 1-3, 4.59 ERA, 44 K, 1.20 WHIP, .220 BAA in 49.0 IP over 17 games at Trenton and 1-0, 3.60 ERA, 13 K, 1.60 WHIP, .241 BAA in 15.0 IP over 4 games at SWB. He originally signed with the Yankees in 2008 as an amateur free agent out of Mexico. Banuelos will be 24 on March 13.

LHP Shreve split 2014 between Double A Mississippi, Triple A Gwinnett and the Braves. He was 3-2, 2.48 ERA, 76 K, 0.94 WHIP, .213 BAA, 7 SV in 54.1 IP over 36 games at Mississippi, 2-1, 3.72 ERA, 11 K, 1.24 WHIP, .273 BAA, 2 SV in 9.2 IP over 10 games at Gwinnett and 0-0, 0.73 ERA, 15 K, 1.05 WHIP, .217 BAA in 12.1 IP over 15 games with the Braves. He was originally drafted by the Braves in the 11th round in 2010. Shreve will be 25 on July 12.

RHP Carpenter split 2014 between Triple A Gwinnett and the Braves. He was 0-0, 0.00 ERA, 4 K, 0.00 WHIP, .000 BAA in 2.0 IP over 2 games at Gwinnett and 6-4, 3.54 ERA, 1.26 WHIP, .256 BAA , 3 SV in 61.0 IP over 65 games with the Braves. Over four MLB seasons with the Braves, Blue Jays and Asros he was 11-10, 3.62 ERA, 201 K, 1.34 WHIP, .260 BAA, 4 SV in 186.2 IP over 188 games. He was originally drafted by the Cardinals in the 12th round in 2006, traded to the Astros in 2010, traded to the Blue Jays in 2012 and also traded to the Red Sox in 2012. The Braves selected him off waivers after the 2012 season. Carpenter will be 30 on July 15.
