J A Happ traded to Blue Jays in 10 player deal

J A Happ was traded by the Houston Astros to the Toronto Blue Jays on July 20, 2012 along with Brandon Lyon and David Carpenter. In exchange the Astros received Francisco Cordero, Ben Francisco, Joe Musgrove, Asher Wojciechowski, David Rollins, Carlos Perez and a player to be named later.

LHP Happ is in his sixth MLB season playing for the Astros and Phillies. In 2012 he was 7-9 with a 4.83 ERA, 98 K, 1.45 WHIP in 104.1 IP over 18 games with Houston. For his MLB career he is 32-33 with a 4.15 ERA, 452 K, 1.39 WHIP in 550.1 IP over 107 games. He was originally drafted by the Phillies in the third round in 2004. Happ will be 30 on October 19.

RHP Lyon is in his 11th MLB season playing for the Astros, Tigers, Diamondbacks, Red Sox and Blue Jays. In 2012 he was 0-2 with a 3.25 ERA, 35 K, 1.33 WHIP in 36.0 IP over 37 games with Houston. For his MLB career he is 36-45 with a 4.16 ERA, 415 K, 1.38 WHIP, 78 SV in 623.0 IP over 506 games. He was originally drafted by the Blue Jays in the 14th round in 1999. Lyon will be 33 on August 10.

RHP Carpenter is in his second MLB season all with the Astros. Prior to the trade he split 2012 between Triple A Oklahoma City going 1-0 with a 1.74 ERA, 9 K, 0.87 WHIP, 3 SV in 8 games and was 0-2 with a 6.07 ERA, 27 K, 1.92 WHIP in 29.2 IP over 30 games with Houston. For his MLB career he is 1-5 with a 4.55 ERA, 56 K, 1.71 WHIP, 1 SV in 57.1 IP over 64 games. He was originally drafted by the Cardinals in the 12th round in 2006. Carpenter turned 27 on July 15.

RHP Cordero is in his 14th MLB season playing with the Blue Jays, Reds, Brewers, Rangers and Tigers. In 2012 he was 3-5 with a 5.77 ERA, 26 K, 1.81 WHIP in 34.1 IP over 41 games with the Blue Jays. For his MLB career he is 47-50 with a 3.28 ERA, 791 K, 1.35 WHIP, 329 SV in 820.2 IP over 795 games. He originally signed with the Tigers as an amateur free agent in 1994 out of the Dominican Republic. Cordero turned 37 on May 11.

Francisco is an outfielder in his sixth MLB season playing with the Blue Jays, Phillies and Indians. In 2012 he was hitting .240/.296/.380 with 0 HR, 2 RBI, 5 R and 0 SB in 27 games after missing much of the season with a hamstring injury. For his MLB career he is hitting .259/.330/.428 with 45 HR, 176 RBI, 186 R, 30 SB in 491 games. He was originally drafted by the Indians in the fifth round in 2002. Francisco will be 31 on October 23.

RHP Musgrove was pitching with the Blue Jays Rookie team in Bluefield. He was 0-0 with a 1.12 ERA, 9 K, 0.62 WHIP in 8.0 IP over 2 games. He was originally drafted by the Blue Jays with the 46th pick of the first round in 2011. Musgrove will be 20 on December 4th.

RHP Wojciechowski was pitching with the Blue Jays Class A Advanced team in Dunedin. He was 7-3 with a 3.57 ERA, 76 K, 1.21 WHIP in 93.1 IP over 18 games. He was originally drafted by the Blue Jays with the 41st pick of the first round in 2010. Wojciechowski will be 24 on December 21.

LHP Rollins was pitching with the Blue Jays Class A team in Lansing. He was 6-1 with a 2.78 ERA, 75 K, 1.29 WHIP in 77.2 IP over 18 games. He was originally drafted by the Blue Jays in the 24th round in 2011. Rollins will be 23 on December 21.

Perez is a catcher who was playing with the Blue Jays Class A team in Lansing. He was hitting .275/.358/.447 with 5 HR, 40 RBI, 48 R, 3 SB in 71 games. He originally signed with the Blue Jays as an amateur free agent in 2007 out of Venezuela. Perez will be 22 on October 27.
