Brett Myers traded to White Sox

Brett Myers was traded by the Houston Astros to the Chicago White Sox on July 21, 2012. In exchange the Astros receive Matt Heidenreich, Blair Walters and a player to be named later.


RHP Myers has 11 years MLB experience with the Astros and Phillies. In 2012 he is 0-4 with a 3.52 ERA, 20 K, 1.34 WHIP and 19 saves in 30.2 IP over 35 games. For his career he is 94-89 with a 4.22 ERA, 1346 K, 1.33 WHIP and 40 saves in 1654.0 IP over 342 games. He was originally drafted by the Phillies with the 12th pick of the first round in 1999. Myers will be 32 on August 17.


RHP Heidenreich has split 2012 between Class A Advanced Winston-Salem and Double A Birmingham. He was 8-2 with a 3.57 ERA, 62 K, 1.08 WHIP in 93.1 IP over 15 games at Winston-Salem and was 1-2 with a 5.89 ERA, 9 K, 1.74 WHIP in 18.1 IP over 3 games at Birmingham. He was originally drafted by the White Sox in the fourth round in 2009. Heidenreich turned 21 on January 17.


LHP Walters has split 2012 between Class A Kannapolis and Class A Advanced Winston-Salem. He was 3-3 with a 2.88 ERA, 69 K, 1.10 WHIP in 72.0 IP over 13 games at Kannapolis and was 1-3 with a 7.01 ERA, 24 K, 1.64 WHIP in 25.2 IP over 5 games at Winston-Salem. He was originally drafted by the White Sox in the 11th round in 2011. Walters will be 23 on November 8th.
