Brent Lillibridge traded to Indians

Brent Lillibridge was traded by the Boston Red Sox to the Cleveland Indians on July 24, 2012. In exchange the Red Sox received Joe De La Torre.


Lillibridge is an IF/OF in his fifth MLB season playing with the Red Sox, White Sox and Braves. He already split 2012 between the White Sox and Red Sox after getting traded earlier this season. He hit .175/.232/.190 with 0 HR, 2 RBI, 10 R, 7 SB in 49 games with Chicago and hit .125/.125/.125 with 0 HR, 0 RBI, 0 R, 0 SB in 10 games with Boston. For his MLB career he has hit .212/.279/.351 with 16 HR, 58 RBI, 85 R, 30 SB in 295 games. He was originally drafted by the Pirates in the fourth round in 2005. Lillibridge will be 29 on September 18.


RHP De La Torre has split 2012 between the Indians Double A team in Akron and Triple A team in Columbus. He was 7-1 with a 2.80 ERA, 42 K, 1.16 WHIP, 2 SV in 45.0 IP over 27 games with Akron and was 1-0 with a 3.38 ERA, 16 K, 1.03 WHIP in 10.2 IP over 7 games with Columbus. He originally signed with the Brewers as an amateur free agent in 2004 out of Puerto Rico. De La Torre will be 27 on October 17.
