Shawn Kelley traded to Padres

Shawn Kelley was traded by the New York Yankees to the San Diego Padres on December 29, 2014. In exchange the Yankees received Johnny Barbato.

RHP Kelley split 2014 between Double A Trenton and Triple A Scranton/Wilkes-Barre while rehabbing and the Yankees. He was 0-0, 0.00 ERA, 2 K, 1.50 WHIP, .000 BAA in 0.2 IP in 1 game at Trenton, 0-0, 0.00 ERA, 0 K, 1.00 WHIP, .250 BAA in 1.0 IP in 1 game at SWB and 3-6, 4.53 ERA, 67 K, 1.26 WHIP, .231 BAA, 4 SV in 51.2 IP over 59 games with the Yankees. Over six MLB seasons with the Yankees and Mariners he was 17-17, 3.94 ERA, 260 K, 1.27 WHIP, .241 BAA, 4 SV in 233.0 IP over 236 games. He was originally drafted by the Mariners in the 13th round in 2007 and traded to the Yankees in 2013. Kellyey will be 31 on April 26.

RHP Barbato pitched in 2014 at Double A San Antonio where he was 2-2, 2.87 ERA, 33 K, 1.15 WHIP, .226 BAA, 16 SV in 31.1 IP over 27 games. He was originally drafted by the Padres in the sixth round in 2010. Barbato will be 23 on July 11.
