Cesar Ramos traded to Angels

Cesar Ramos was traded by the Tampa Bay Rays to the Los Angeles Angels on November 5, 2014. In exchange the Rays received Mark Sappington.

LHP Ramos pitched in 2014 with the Rays and was 2-6, 3.70 ERA, 66 K, 1.35 WHIP, .233 BAA in 82.2 IP over 43 games. Over six MLB seasons with the Rays and Padres he is 5-11, 3.90 ERA, 198 K, 1.36 WHIP, .245 BAA, 1 SV in 246.2 IP over 186 games. He was originally drafted by the Padres with the 35th pick of the first round in 2005. Ramos will be 31 on June 22.

RHP Sappington split 2014 between Class A Advanced Inland Empire and Double A Arkansas as he was 3-7, 5.79 ERA, 80 K, 1.76 WHIP, .288 BAA, 5 SV in 70.1 IP over 33 games at Inland Empire and 1-4, 6.44 ERA, 34 K, 1.85 WHIP, .275 BAA in 43.1 IP over 9 games at Arkansas. He was originally drafted by the Angels in the fifth round in 2012. Sappington turned 24 on November 17.
