Liam Hendriks traded to Blue Jays

Liam Hendriks was traded by the Kansas City Royals to the Toronto Blue Jays on October 30, 2014. In exchange the Royals received Santiago Nessy.

RHP Hendriks split 2014 between Triple A Buffalo and the Blue Jays before being traded in July and split the rest of the season between Triple A Omaha and the Royals. He was 8-1, 2.33 ERA, 91 K, 0.91 WHIP, .231 BAA in 108.1 IP over 18 games at Buffalo, 1-0, 6.98 ERA, 8 K, 1.20 WHIP, .235 BAA in 13.1 IP over 3 games with the Blue Jays, 4-1, 2.83 ERA, 35 K, 1.11 WHIP, .254 BAA in 35.0 IP over 5 games at Omaha and 0-2, 4.66 ERA, 15 K, 1.50 WHIP, .325 BAA in 19.1 IP over 6 games with the Royals. Over four MLB seasons with the Royals, Blue Jays and Twins he is 3-15, 5.92 ERA, 123 K, 1.55 WHIP, .309 BAA in 188.2 IP over 39 games. He originally signed with the Twins in 2007 as an amateur free agent out of Australia. Hendriks will be 26 on February 10.

Nessy is a catcher who split 2014 between Class A Lansing and Class A Advanced Dunedin. He hit .243/.333/.351 with 1 HR, 16 RBI, 20 R, 0 SB in 44 games at Lansing and .211/.280/.300 with 0 HR, 12 RBI, 9 R, 0 SB in 25 games at Dunedin. He originally signed with the Blue Jays in 2009 as an amateur free agent out of Venezuela. Nessy turned 22 on December 8th.
