Drew Butera traded to Angels

Drew Butera was traded by the Los Angeles Dodgers to the Los Angeles Angels on December 9, 2014 for a PTBNL. The Dodgers received Matt Long on December 18 to complete the deal.

Butera is a catcher who in 2014 hit .188/.267/.288 with 3 HR, 14 RBI, 16 R, 0 SB in 61 games. Over five MLB seasons with the Dodgers and Twins he has hit .183/.239/.268 with 8 HR, 55 RBI, 54 R, 0 SB in 251 games. He also has a caught stealing rate of 33%. He was originally drafted by the Mets in the fifth round in 2005. Butera will be 32 on August 9th.

Long is an OF\2B who split 2014 between Rookie Arizona, Rookie Orem, Double A Arkansas and Triple A Salt Lake. He hit .333/.500/.333 with 0 HR, 1 RBI, 0 R, 0 SB in 1 game at Arizona, .667/.800/2.333 with 1 HR, 1 RBI, 2 R, 1 SB in 1 game at Orem, .223/.296/.360 with 4 HR, 15 RBI, 32 R, 6 SB in 50 games at Arkansas and .261/.360/.378 with 5 HR, 29 RBI, 48 R, 18 SB in 64 games at Salt Lake. He was originally drafted by the Angels in the 30th round in 2009. Long will be 28 on April 30.
