Sean Rodriguez was traded by the Tampa Bay Rays to the Pittsburgh Pirates on December 1, 2014 for a PTBNL. The Rays received Buddy Borden on December 12 to complete the deal.
Rodriguez is a super utility who has played 2B\SS\3B\1B\OF who in 2014 hit .211/.258/.443 with 12 HR, 41 RBI, 30 R, 2 SB in 96 games with the Rays. Over seven MLB seasons with the Rays and Angels he has hit .225/.297/.372 with 45 HR, 186 RBI, 207 R, 35 SB in 624 games. He was originally drafted by the Angels in the third round in 2003 and was traded to the Rays in 2009. Rodriguez will be 30 on April 26.
RHP Borden pitched in 2014 at Class A West Virginia where he was 7-9, 3.16 ERA, 122 K, 1.18 WHIP, .220 BAA, 1 SV in 128.0 IP over 27 games. He was originally drafted by the Pirates in the seventh round in 2013. Borden will be 23 on April 29.
