Didi Gregorius was traded by the Arizona Diamondbacks to the New York Yankees on December 5, 2014. The Yankees sent Shane Greene to the Detroit Tigers. The Tigers sent Robbie Ray and Domingo Leyba to the Diamondbacks.
Gregorius is a SS\2B who split 2014 between Triple A Reno and the Diamondbacks as he hit .310/.389/.447 with 3 HR, 25 RBI, 42 R, 3 SB in 57 games at Reno and .226/.290/.363 with 6 HR, 27 RBI, 35 R, 3 SB in 80 games with the Diamondbacks. Over three MLB seasons with the Diamondbacks and Reds he has hit .243/.313/.366 with 13 HR, 57 RBI, 83. R, 3 SB in 191 games. He originally signed with the Reds in 2007 as an amateur free agent out of the Netherlands and was traded to the Diamondbacks in 2012. Gregorius will be 25 on February 18.
RHP Green split 2014 between Triple A Scranton\Wilkes-Barre and the Yankees as he was 5-2, 4.61 ERA, 57 K, 1.58 WHIP, .295 BAA in 66.1 IP over 15 games at SWB and 5-4, 3.78 ERA, 81 K, 1.40 WHIP, .262 BAA in 78.2 IP over 15 games with the Yankees. He was originally drafted by the Yankees in the 15th round in 2009. Greene turned 26 on November 17.
LHP Ray split 2014 between Triple A Toledo and the Tigers as he was 7-6, 4.22 ERA, 75 K, 1.50 WHIP, .277 WHIP in 100.1 IP over 20 games at Toledo and 1-4, 8.16 ERA, 19 K, 1.88 WHIP, .350 BAA in 28.2 IP over 9 games with the Yankees. He was originally drafted by the Nationals in the 12th round in 2010 and was traded to the Tigers in 2013. Ray will be 24 on October 1st.
Leyba is a 2B\SS who split 2014 between Class A Connecticut and Class A West Michigan as he hit .264/.303/.375 with 1 HR, 17 RBI, 20 R, 1 SB in 37 games at Connecticut and .397/.431/.483 with 1 HR, 7 RBI, 20 R, 1 SB in 30 games at West Michigan. He originally signed with the Tigers in 2012 as an amateur free agent out of the Dominican Republic. Leyba will be 20 on September 11.
