Doug Fister traded to Nationals

Doug Fister was traded by the Detroit Tigers to the Washington Nationals on December 2, 2013. In exchange the Tigers received Robbie Ray, Ian Krol and Steve Lombardozzi.

RHP Fister has five seasons MLB experience pitching with the Tigers and Mariners. In 2013 he was 14-9, 3.67 ERA, 159 K, 1.31 WHIP in 208.2 IP over 33 games with the Tigers. For his MLB career he is 44-50, 3.53 ERA, 571 K, 1.21 WHIP in 818.2 IP over 130 games. He was originally drafted by the Mariners in the seventh round in 2006. Fister will be 30 on February 4th.

LHP Ray split 2013 between Class A Advanced Potomac and Double A Harrisburg. He was 6-3, 3.11 ERA, 100 K, 1.20 WHIP in 84.0 IP over 16 games at Potomac and was 5-2, 3.72 ERA, 60 K, 1.33 WHIP in 58.0 IP over 11 games at Harrisburg. He was originally drafted by the Nationals in the 12th round in 2010. Ray turned 22 on October 1st.

LHP Krol split 2013 between Double A Harrisburg, Triple A Syracuse and the Nationals. He was 0-0, 0.69 ERA, 29 K, 0.81 WHIP, 1 SV in 26.0 IP over 21 games at Harrisburg, was 1-1, 4.91 ERA, 7 K, 0.82 WHIP in 3.2 IP over 5 games at Syracuse and was 2-1, 3.95 ERA, 22 K, 1.32 WHIP in 27.1 IP over 32 games with Washington. He was originally drafted by the Athletics in the seventh round in 2009. He was traded to the Nationals in March 2013. Krol turned 22 on MAy 9th.

Lombardozzi is a 2B\OF with three seasons MLB experience playing with the Nationals. In 2013 he hit .259/.278/.338 with 2 HR, 22 RBI, 25 R, 4 SB in 118 games. For his MLB career he has hit .264/.297/.342 with 5 HR, 50 RBI, 68 R, 9 SB in 257 games. He was originally drafted by the Nationals in the 19th round in 2008. Lombardozzi turned 25 on September 20.
