Mark Trumbo was traded by the Los Angles Angels to the Arizona Diamondbacks on December 10, 2013 in a three team deal also involving the Chicago White Sox. The Angels received Tyler Skaggs from the Diamondbacks and Hector Santiago from the White Sox. The White Sox received Adam Eaton from the Diamondbacks. The Diamondbacks will also receive a player to be named later from both the Angels and White Sox.
Trumbo is a 1B\OF with four seasons MLB experience playing all with the Angels. In 2013 he hit .234/.294/.453 with 34 HR, 100 RBI, 85 R, 5 SB in 159 games. For his MLB career he has hit .250/.299/.469 with 95 HR, 284 RBI, 218 R, 18 SB in 460 games. He was originally drafted by the Angels in the 18th round in 2004. Trumbo will be 28 on January 16.
LHP Skaggs has two seasons MLB experience pitching with the Diamondbacks. He split 2013 between Class A Advanced Visalia, Triple A Reno and the Diamondbacks. He was 0-0, 4.76 ERA, 8 K, 2.29 WHIP in 5.2 IP in 1 game at Visalia, was 6-10, 4.59 ERA, 107 K, 1.47 WHIP in 104.0 IP over 19 games at Reno and was 2-3, 5.12 ERA, 36 K, 1.37 WHIP in 38.2 IP over 7 games with the Diamondbacks. For his MLB career he is 3-6, 5.43 ERA, 57 K, 1.41 WHIP in 68.0 IP over 13 games. He was originally drafted by the Angels with the 40th pick of the first round in 2009. Skaggs turned 22 on July 13.
LHP Santiago has three seasons MLB experience pitching with the White Sox. In 2013 he was 4-9, 3.56 ERA, 137 K, 1.40 WHIP in 149.0 IP over 34 games with the White Sox. For his MLB career he is 8-10, 3.41 ERA, 218 K, 1.36 WHIP, 4 SV in 224.2 IP over 78 games. He was oirginally drafted by the White Sox in the 30th round in 2006. Santiago will be 26 on December 16.
Eaton is an outfielder with two seasons MLB experience with the Diamondbacks. He split 2013 between Rookie Arizona, Class A Advanced Visalia, Triple A Reno and the Diamondbacks. He hit .500/.600/.500 with 0 HR, 2 RBI, 1 R, 0 SB in 1 game at Arizona, hit .321/.438/.434 with 1 HR, 6 RBI, 12 R, 8 SB in 15 games at Visalia, hit .143/.225/.286 with 1 HR, 5 RBI, 5 R, 0 SB in 10 games with Reno and hit .252/.314/.360 with 3 HR, 22 RBI, 40 R, 5 SB in 66 games with the Diamondbacks. For his MLB career he has hit .254/.332/.373 with 5 HR, 27 RBI, 59 R, 7 SB in 88 games. He was originally drafted by the Diamondbacks in the 19th round in 2010. Eaton turned 25 on December 6th.
