The 2013 season is behind us and I'm checking how picks 31 to 40 of the 2008 draft did this season. Traditionally players drafted out of college advance faster than those drafted out of high school and pitchers usually advance faster than position players. Some players might also be traded to help their team get an established player that can help their team improve immediately.
The Minnesota Twins drafted RHP Steven "Shooter" Hunt 31st out of Tulane. He was selected by the Cardinals in the Triple A Phase of the 2011 Rule 5 draft. He retired from baseball in June 2012.
The Milwaukee Brewers drafted RHP Jacob Odorizzi 32nd out of Highland High School in Illinois. He was traded to the Royals in December 2010 and was traded to the Rays in 2012. He was 9-6, 3.33 ERA, 124 K, 1.13 WHIP in 124.1 IP over 22 games at Durham and was 0-1, 3.94 ERA, 22 K, 1.21 WHIP, 1 SV in 29.2 IP over 7 games with the Rays.

The Philadelphia Phillies drafted outfielder Zachary Collier 34th out of Chino Hills High School in Chino Hills, CA. He played in 2013 at Double A Reading. He hit .222/.310/.348 with 8 HR, 36 RBI, 57 R, 17 SB in 123 games.

The Kansas City Royals drafted LHP Michael Montgomery 36th out of Hart High School in Newhall, CA. He was traded to the Rays in 2012. He split 2013 between Class A Advanced Charlotte and Triple A Durham. He was 0-1, 6.23 ERA, 10 K, 1.39 WHIP in 8.2 IP in 2 games at Charlotte and was 7-8, 4.72 ERA, 77 K, 1.46 WHIP in 108.2 IP over 20 games at Durham.
The San Francisco Giants drafted third baseman Conor Gillaspie 37th out of Wichita State. He was traded to the White Sox in February 2013. He played in 2013 with the White Sox. He hit .245/.305/.390 with 13 HR, 40 RBI, 46 R, 0 SB in 134 games.
The Houston Astros drafted RHP Jordan Lyles 38th out of Hartsville High School in Hartsville, SC. He split 2013 between Triple A Oklahoma City and the Astros.
