2013 Where are they now 2007 MLB draft picks 31 to 40

The 2013 season is behind us and I'm checking how picks 31 to 40 of the 2007 draft did this season. Traditionally players drafted out of college advance faster than those drafted out of high school and pitchers usually advance faster than position players. Some players might also be traded to help their team get an established player that can help their team improve immediately.

The Washington Nationals drafted LHP Josh Smoker 31st out of Calhoun High School in Calhoun, GA. He did not play in 2013 after also missing most of 2012 on the DL.

The San Francisco Giants drafted Shortstop Nick Noonan 32nd out of Francis Parker High School in San Diego, CA. He split 2013 between Triple A Fresno and the Giants. He hit .255/.323/.345 with 0 HR, 20 RBI, 20 R, 1 SB in 48 games at Fresno and hit .219/.261/.238 with 0 HR, 5 RBI, 12 R, 0 SB in 62 games with the Giants.

The Atlanta Braves drafted 2B/3B Jon Gilmore 33rd out of Iowa City High School in Iowa City, IA. He was traded to the White Sox in 2008.  He spent much of the 2012 season on the DL and was released by the White Sox in October 2012.

The Cincinnati Reds drafted SS/OF Todd Frazier 34th out of Rutgers. He played in 2013 with the Reds. He hit .234/.314/.407 with 19 HR, 73 RBI, 63 R, 6 SB in 150 games.

The Texas Rangers drafted outfielder Julio Borbon 35th out of Tennessee. He was selected by the Cubs off waivers in April 2013. He split 2013 between Triple A Iowa and with the Cubs. He hit .260/.360/.329 with 0 HR, 1 RBI, 10 R, 5 SB in 24 games at Iowa and hit .202/.284/.279 with 1 HR, 3 RBI, 10 R, 7 SB in 72 games with the Cubs. The Orioles selected him in the 2013 Rule 5 draft.

The St Louis Cardinals drafted RHP Clayton Mortensen 36th out of Gonzaga. He was traded to the Athletics in July 2009 , then traded to the Rockies in January 2011, was traded to the Red Sox in January 2012 and was traded to the Royals in August 2013. He split 2013 between Triple A Pawtucket, the Red Sox and Triple A Omaha. He was 3-0, 2.47 ERA, 39 K, 1.24 WHIP in 43.2 IP over 14 games at Pawtucket, was 1-2, 5.34 ERA, 21 K, 1.58 WHIP in 30.1 IP over 24 games with the Red Sox and was 1-0, 4.50 ERA. 2 K, 1.50 WHIP in 6.0 IP in 1 game at Omaha.
