2013 Where are they now 2007 MLB draft picks 21 to 30

The 2013 season is behind us and I'm checking how picks 21 to 30 of the 2007 draft did this season. Traditionally players drafted out of college advance faster than those drafted out of high school and pitchers usually advance faster than position players. Some players might also be traded to help their team get an established player that can help their team improve immediately.

The Toronto Blue Jays drafted catcher J.P Arencibia 21st out of Tennessee. He played in 2013 with the Blue Jays. He hit .194/.227/.365 with 21 HR, 55 RBI, 45 R, 0 SB in 138 games.

The San Francisco Giants drafted RHP Tim Alderson 22nd out of Horizon High School in Scottsdale, AZ. He was traded to the Pirates in 2009. He was traded to the Orioles in July 2013. He split 2013 between Double A Altoona and Triple A Indianapolis of the Pirates and Triple A Norfolk of the Orioles. He 1-0, 1.32 ERA, 17 K, 0.44 WHIP, 2 SV in 13.2 IP in 7 games at Altoona, was 3-1, 2.79 ERA, 38 K, 1.19 WHIP in 42.0 IP over 22 games at Indianapolis and was 1-2, 6.27 ERA, 26 K, 1.49 WHIP in 33.0 IP over 15 games at Norfolk.

The San Diego Padres drafted LHP Nick Schmidt 23rd out of Arkansas. He was traded to the Rockies in 2011. He pitched in 2013 at Triple A Colorado Springs. He was 5-3, 4.71 ERA, 72 K, 1.58 WHIP, 1 SV in 91.2 IP over 37 games.

The Texas Rangers drafted RHP Michael Main 24th out of DeLand High School in DeLand, FL. He was traded to the Giants in 2010. He switched position to the outfield and split 2013 between Class A Advanced Jupiter, Class A Greensboro and Double A Jacksonville. He hit .385/.385/.385 with 0 HR, 2 RBI, 4 R, 1 SB in 3 games at Jupiter, hit .228/.283/.293 with 1 HR, 7 RBI, 10 R, 4 SB in 23 games at Greensboro and hit .223/.288/.257 with 0 HR, 11 RBI, 17 R, 3 SB in 67 games at Jacksonville.

The Chicago White Sox drafted LHP Aaron Poreda 25th out of University of San Francisco. He was traded to the Padres in 2009. He was selected by the Pirates in the Triple A portion of the Rule 5 draft in December 2011. He was released by the Pirates in March 2013 and did not play. He signed with the Rangers in October 2013.

The Oakland Athletics drafted RHP James Simmons 26th out of University of California-Riverside. He split 2013 starting at Triple A Sacramento before being demoted to Class A Advanced Stockton. He was 0-2, 7.16 ERA, 13 K, 2.14 WHIP in 16.1 IP over 12 games at Sacramento and was 8-8, 5.48 ERA, 86 K, 1.38 WHIP in 113.1 IP over 20 games at Stockton.

The Detroit Tigers drafted RHP Rick Porcello 27th out of Seton Hall Preparatory School in New Jersey. He pitched in 2013 with the Tigers. He was 13-8, 4.32 ERA, 142 K, 1.28 WHIP in 177.0 IP over 32 games.

The Minnesota Twins drafted outfielder Ben Revere 28th out of Lexington Catholic High School in Lexington, KY. He was traded to the Phillies in 2012. He played in 2013 with the Phillies. He hit .305/.338/.352 with 0 HR, 17 RBI, 37 R, 22 SB in 88 games while missing much of the season with a broken ankle.

The San Francisco Giants drafted outfielder Wendell Fairley 29th out of George County High School in Lucedale, MS. He was released by the Giants in March 2013 and did not play.
