2013 Where are they now 2007 MLB draft picks 41 to 50

The 2013 season is behind us and I'm checking how picks 41 to 50 of the 2007 draft did this season. Traditionally players drafted out of college advance faster than those drafted out of high school and pitchers usually advance faster than position players. Some players might also be traded to help their team get an established player that can help their team improve immediately.

The Oakland Athletics drafted LHP/1B Sean Doolittle 41st out of Virginia. He pitched in 2013 with the Athletics. He was 5-5, 3.13 ERA, 60 K, 0.96 WHIP, 2 SV in 69.0 IP over 70 games.

The New York Mets drafted RHP Eddie Kunz 42nd out of Oregon State. He was traded to the Padres in March 2011. He did not play in 2013 after being released by the Padres in March.

The San Francisco Giants drafted catcher Jackson Williams 43rd out of Oklahoma. He played 2013 at Triple A Fresno. He hit .230/.289/.356 with 5 HR, 30 RBI, 30 R, 0 SB in 85 games.

The Texas Rangers drafted RHP Neil Ramirez 44th out of Kempsville High School in Virginia Beach, VA. He split 2013 between Double A Frisco and Double A Tennessee after being traded to the Cubs. He was 9-3, 3.84 ERA, 127 K, 1.16 WHIP in 103.0 IP over 21 games at Frisco and was 0-0, 0.00 ERA, 5 K, 0.64 WHIP in 4.2 IP in 1 game at Tennessee.

The Toronto Blue Jays drafted shortstop Justin Jackson 45th out of Roberson High School in Ashville, NC. He converted to RHP and split 2013 between Class A Lansing and Class A Advanced Dunedin. He was 0-2, 2.36 ERA, 26 K, 1.81 WHIP in 34.1 IP over 23 games at Lansing and was 0-0, 5.28 ERA, 8 K, 1.57 WHIP in 15.1 IP in 10 games at Dunedin.

The San Diego Padres drafted shortstop Andrew Cumberland 46th out of Pace High School in Pace, FL. He missed the 2011 and 2012 seasons with a neurological condition. He is retired in 2012 but may attempt a comeback in the future.

The New York Mets drafted LHP Nathan Vineyard 47th out of Woodland High School in Georgia. He retired from baseball after two seasons.

The Chicago Cubs drafted catcher Joshua Donaldson 48th out of Auburn. He was traded to the Athletics in 2008. He played in 2013 with the Athletics. He hit .301/.384/.499 with 24 HR, 93 RBI, 89 R, 5 SB in 158 games.

The Washington Nationals drafted outfielder Michael Burgess 49th out of Hillsborough High School in Tampa, FL. He was traded to the Cubs in January 2011. He was selected by the Astros in the Rule 5 draft in 2012. He played in 2013 at Double A Corpus Christi. He hit .203/.278/.378 with 12 HR, 42 RBI, 31 R, 0 SB in 98 games.

The Arizona Diamondbacks drafted RHP Wes Roemer 50th out of Cal State Fullerton. He was released by the Diamondbacks in September 2011. He split 2013 between Independent New Jersey and Independent St Paul. He was 3-3, 4.63 ERA, 33 K, 1.28 WHIP in 56.1 IP over 9 games at New Jersey and was 4-5, 6.88 ERA, 37 K, 1.59 WHIP in 51.0 IP over 9 games at St Paul.
