2013 Where are they now 2012 MLB draft picks 51 to 60

The 2013 season is behind us and I'm checking how picks 51 to 60 (which closed out the first round) of the 2012 draft did this season. Traditionally players drafted out of college advance faster than those drafted out of high school and pitchers usually advance faster than position players. Some players might also be traded to help their team get an established player that can help their team improve immediately.

The Los Angeles Dodgers drafted shortstop Jesmuel Valentin 51st out of Puerto Rico Baseball Academy and High School in Gurabo, PR. He split 2013 between Rookie Ogden and Class A Great Lakes. He hit .284/.379/.396 with 4 HR, 24 RBI, 53 R, 11 SB in 62 games at Ogden and hit .212/.325/.293 with 0 HR, 5 RBI, 12 R, 4 SB in 33 games at Great Lakes.

The St Louis Cardinals drafted third baseman Patrick Wisdom 52nd out of Saint Mary's. He split 2013 between Class A Peoria and Class A Advanced Plam Beach. He hit .231/.312/.411 with 13 HR, 62 RBI, 54 R, 4 SB in 104 games at Peoria and hit .250/.317/.359 with 2 HR, 11 RBI, 8 R, 1 SB in 25 games at Palm Beach.

The Texas Rangers drafted RHP Collin Wiles 53rd out of Blue Valley West High School in Stilwell, KS. He pitched in 2013 at Class A Spokane. He was 2-7, 3.09 ERA, 40 K, 1.37 WHIP in 67.0 IP over 14 games.

The Philadelphia Phillies drafted RHP Mitch Gueller 54th out of W.F. West High School in Chehalis, WA. He pitched in 2013 at Class A Williamsport. He was 3-8, 5.86 ERA, 35 K, 1.87 WHIP in 58.1 IP over 14 games.

The San Diego Padres drafted RHP Walker Weickel 55th out of Olympia High School in Orlando, FL. He pitched in 2013 at Class A Fort Wayne. He was 3-6, 5.04 ERA, 82 K, 1.52 WHIP in 110.2 IP over 24 games.

The Chicago Cubs drafted RHP Paul Blackburn 56th out of Heritage High School in Brentwood, CA. He pitched in 2013 at Class A Boise. He was 2-3, 3.33 ERA, 38 K, 1.52 WHIP in 46.0 IP over 13 games.

The Cincinnati Reds drafted outfielder Jeff Gelalich 57th out of UCLA. He played in 2013 at Class A Dayton. He hit .245/.331/.300 with 1 HR, 37 RBI, 61 R, 20 SB in 123 games.

The Toronto Blue Jays drafted third baseman Mitch Nay 58th out of Hamilton High School in Chandler, AZ. He played in 2013 at Rookie Bluefield. He hit .300/.364/.426 with 6 HR, 42 RBI, 41 R, 0 SB in 64 games.
