2013 Where are they now 2012 MLB draft picks 41 to 50

The 2013 season is behind us and I'm checking how picks 41 to 50 of the 2012 draft did this season. Traditionally players drafted out of college advance faster than those drafted out of high school and pitchers usually advance faster than position players. Some players might also be traded to help their team get an established player that can help their team improve immediately.

The Houston Astros drafted RHP Lance McCullers Jr 41st out of Jesuit High School in Tampa, FL. He pitched in 2013 at Class A Quad Cities. He was 6-5, 3.18 ERA, 117 K, 1.35 WHIP in 104.2 IP over 25 games.

The Minnesota Twins drafted RHP Luke Bard 42nd out of Georgia Tech. He split 2013 between Rookie Gulf Coast, Rookie Elizabethton and Class A Advanced Fort Myers. He was 0-0, 12.00 ERA, 1 K, 2.67 WHIP in 3.0 IP over 4 games at Gulf Coast, was 1-0, 1.08 ERA, 6 K, 0.96 WHIP in 8.1 IP over 7 games at Elizabethton and was 0-0, 0.00 ERA, 2 K, 0.00 WHIP in 1.0 IP in 1 game at Fort Myers.

The Chicago Cubs drafted RHP Pierce Johnson 43rd out of Missouri State. He split 2013 between Class A Kane County and Class A Advanced Daytona. He was 5-5, 3.10 ERA, 74 K, 1.29 WHIP in 69.2 IP over 13 games at Kane County and was 6-1, 2.22 ERA, 50 K, 1.27 WHIP in 48.2 IP over 10 games at Daytona.

The San Diego Padres drafted outfielder Travis Jankowski 44th out of Stony Brook. He played in 2013 at Class A Advanced Lake Elsinore. He hit .286/.356/.355 with 1 HR, 38 RBI, 89 R, 71 SB in 122 games.

The Pittsburgh Pirates drafted outfielder Barrett Barnes 45th out of Texas Tech. He played in 2013 at Class A West Virginia. He hit .268/.338/.399 with 5 HR, 24 RBI, 26 R, 10 SB in 46 games.

The Colorado Rockies drafted RHP Eddie Butler 46th out of Radford. He split 2013 between Class A Asheville, Class A Advanced Modesto and Double A Tulsa. He was 5-1, 1.66 ERA, 51 K, 0.92 WHIP in 54.1 IP over 9 games at Asheville, was 3-4, 2.39 ERA, 67 K, 1.17 WHIP in 67.2 IP over 13 games at Modesto and was 1-0, 0.65 ERA, 25 K, 0.69 WHIP in 27.2 IP over 6 games at Tulsa.

The Oakland Athletics drafted first baseman Matt Olson 47th out of Parkview High School in Lilburn, GA. He played in 2013 at Class A Beloit. He hit .225/.326/.435 with 23 HR, 93 RBI, 69 R, 4 SB in 134 games.
