R A Dickey traded to Blue Jays

R A Dickey was traded by the New York Mets to the Toronto Blue Jays on December 17, 2012 along with Josh Thole and Mike Nickeas. In exchange the Mets received John Buck, Travis d'Arnaud, Noah Syndergaard and Wuilmer Becerra.

RHP Dickey has 10 seasons MLB experience pitching with the Mets, Twins, Mariners and Rangers. He won the National League Cy Young in 2012 as he was 20-6 with a 2.73 ERA, 230 K, 1.05 WHIP in 233.2 IP over 34 games. For his MLB career he is 61-56 with a 3.98 ERA, 739 K, 1.33 WHIP in 1059.1 IP over 238 games. He was originally drafted by the Rangers with the 18th pick of the first round in 1996. Dickey turned 38 on October 29.

Thole is a catcher with four seasons MLB experience playing all with the Mets. In 2012 he hit .234/.294/.290 with 1 HR, 21 RBI, 24 R, 0 SB in 104 games. For his MLB career he has hit .261/.331/.333 with 7 HR, 87 RBI, 65 R, 2 SB in 308 games. He was originally drafted by the Mets in the 13th round in 2005. Thole turned 26 on October 28.

Nickeas is a catcher with three seasons MLB experience playing all with the Mets. He split 2012 between Triple A Buffaso and New York and he hit .364/.405/.500 with 1 HR, 6 RBI, 10 R, 0 SB in 22 games with Buffalo and hit .174/.242/.229 with 1 HR, 13 RBI, 8 R, 0 SB in 47 games with New York. For his MLB career he has hit .180/.241/.238 with 2 HR, 19 RBI, 12 R, 0 SB in 73 games. He was originally drafted by the Rangers in the fifth round in 2004. Nickeas will be 30 on February 13.

Buck is a catcher with nine seasons MLB experience playing with the Marlins, Blue Jays and Royals. He had been traded from the Marlins to the Blue Jays in November in a 12 player dealIn 2012 he hit .192/.297/.347 with 12 HR, 41 RBI, 29 R, 0 SB in 106 games with Miami. For his MLB career he has hit .235/.303/.405 with 118 HR, 423 RBI, 341 R, 4 SB in 948 games. He was originally drafted by the Astros in the seventh round in 1998. Buck turned 32 on July 7th.

d'Arnaud is a catcher who played 2012 with the Blue Jays Triple A team Las Vegas. He hit .333/.380/.595 with 16 HR, 52 RBI, 45 R, 1 SB in 67 games at Las Vegas. He was originally drafted by the Phillies with the 37th pick in the first round in 2007. d'Arnaud will be 24 on February 10.

RHP Syndergaard pitched 2012 with the Blue Jays Class A team Lansing. He was 8-5 with a 2.60 ERA, 122 K, 1.08 WHIP, 1 SV in 103.2 IP over 27 games. He was originally drafted by the Blue Jays with the 38th pick of the first round in 2010. Syndergaard turned 20 on August 29.

Becerra is an outfielder who played with the Blue Jays Rookie team in the Gulf Coast League. He hit .250/.359/.375 with 0 HR, 4 RBI, 5 R, 0 SB in 11 games. He had signed with the Blue Jays as an amateur free agent in July 2012 out of Venezuela. Becerra turned 18 on October 1st.
