Jose Reyes traded to Blue Jays in 12 player deal

Jose Reyes of the Miami Marlins was traded to the Toronto Blue Jays on November 19, 2012 along with Mark Buehrle, Josh Johnson, John Buck and Emilio Bonifacio and cash. In exchange the Marlins received Yunel Escobar, Adeiny Hechavarria, Henderson Alvarez, Anthony DeSclafani, Justin Nicolino, Jeff Mathis, and Jake Marisnick.

Reyes is a shortstop with 10 seasons MLB experience playing with the Marlins and Mets. In 2012 he hit .287/.347/.433 with 11 HR, 57 RBI, 86 R, 40 SB in 160 games with Miami. For his MLB career he has hit .291/.342/.440 with 92 HR, 480 RBI, 821 R, 410 SB in 1210 games. He originally signed with the Mets as an amateur free agent in 1999 out of the Dominican Republic. Reyes turned 29 on June 11.

LHP Buehrle has 13 seasons MLB experience pitching with the Marlins and White Sox. In 2012 he was 13-13 with a 3.74 ERA, 125 K, 1.17 WHIP in 202.1 IP over 31 games with Miami. For his MLB career he is 174-132 with a 3.82 ERA, 1521 K, 1.27 WHIP in 2679.0 IP over 421 games. He was originally drafted by the White Sox in the 38th round in 1998. Buehrle turned 33 on March 23.

RHP Johnson has 8 seasons MLB experience pitching all with the Marlins. In 2012 he was 8-14 with a 3.81 ERA, 165 K, 1.28 WHIP in 191.1 IP over 31 games. For his MLB career he is 56-37 with a 3.15 ERA, 832 K, 1.23 WHIP in 916.2 IP over 154 games. He was originally drafted by the Marlins in the fourth round in 2002. Johnson will be 29 on January 31.

Buck is a catcher with 9 seasons MLB experience playing with the Marlins, Blue Jays and Royals. In 2012 he hit .192/.297/.347 with 12 HR, 41 RBI, 29 R, 0 SB in 106 games with Miami. For his MLB career he has hit .235/.303/.405 with 118 HR, 423 RBI, 341 R, 4 SB in 948 games. He was originally drafted by the Astros in the seventh round in 1998. Buck turned 32 on July 7th.

Bonifacio is an OF\3B\SS with 6 seasons MLB experience playing with the Marlins, Nationals and Diamondbacks. In 2012 he hit .258/.330/.316 with 1 HR, 11 RBI, 30 R, 30 SB in 64 games with Miami. For his MLB career he has hit .267/.329/.343 with 7 HR, 100 RBI, 241 R, 110 SB in 476 games. He originally signed with the Diamondbacks as an amateur free agent in 2001 out of the Dominican Republic. Bonifacio turned 27 on April 23. 

Escobar is a shortstop with 6 seasons MLB experience playing with the Blue Jays and Braves. In 2012 he hit .253/.300/.344 with 9 HR, 51 RBI, 58 R, 5 SB in 145 games with Toronto. For his MLB career he has hit .282/.353/.390 with 53 HR, 298 RBI, 409 R, 26 SB in 784 games. He was originally drafted by the Braves in the second round in 2005. Escobar turned 30 on November 2nd.

Hechavarria is a 3B\SS\2B who split 2012 between Triple A Las Vegas and Toronto. He hit .312/.363/.424 with 6 HR, 63 RBI, 78 R, 8 SB in 102 games with Las Vegas and hit .254/.280/.365 with 2 HR, 15 RBI, 10 R, 0 SB in 41 games with Toronto. He originally signed with the Blue Jays as an amateur free agent in 2010 out of Cuba. Hechavarria turned 23 on April 15.

RHP Alvarez has 2 seasons MLB experience both with the Blue Jays. In 2012 he was 9-14 with 4.85 ERA, 79 K, 1.44 WHIP in 187.1 IP over 31 games. For his MLB career he is 10-17 with a 4.52 ERA, 119 K, 1.36 WHIP in 251.0 IP over 41 games. He originally signed with the Blue Jays as an amateur free agent in 2006 out of Venezuela. Alvarez turned 22 on April 18.

RHP DeSclafani pitched 2012 with the Blue Jays Class A team in Lansing. He was 11-3 with a 3.37 ERA, 92 K, 1.38 WHIP in 123.0 IP over 28 games. He was originally drafted by the Blue Jays in the sixth round in 2011. DeSclafani turned 22 on April 18.

LHP Nicolino also pitched 2012 with the Blue Jays Class A team in Lansing. He was 10-4 with a 2.46 ERA, 119 K, 1.07 WHIP in 124.1 IP over 28 games. He was originally drafted by the Blue Jays in the second round in 2010. Nicolino will be 21 on November 22. 

Mathis is a catcher with 8 seasons MLB experience playing with the Blue Jays and Angels. In 2012 he hit .218/.249/.393 with 8 HR, 27 RBI, 25 R, 1 SB in 71 games with Toronto. For his MLB career he has hit .198/.256/.314 with 34 HR, 166 RBI, 157 R, 9 SB in 497 games. He was originally drafted by the Angels with the 33rd pick of the first round in 2001. Mathis turned 29 on March 31.

Marisnick is an outfielder who split 2012 between the Blue Jays Class A Advanced team in Dunedin and Double A team in New Hampshire. He hit .263/.349/.451 with 6 HR, 35 RBI, 41 R, 10 SB in 65 games with Dunedin and hit .233/.286/.336 with 2 HR, 15 RBI, 25 R, 14 SB in 55 games with New Hampshire. He was originally drafted by the Blue Jays in the third round in 2009. Marisnick turned 21 on March 30.
