Tyson Ross was traded by the Oakland Athletics to the San Diego Padres on November 16, 2012 along with A J Kirby-Jones. In exchange the Athletics received Andy Parrino and Andrew Werner.
RHP Ross has three seasons of MLB experience all with the Athletics. He split 2012 between Triple A Sacramento and Oakland. He was 6-2 with a 2.99 ERA, 64 K, 1.25 WHIP in 78.1 IP over 15 games with Sacramento and was 2-11 with a 6.50 ERA, 46 K, 1.81 WHIP in 73.1 IP over 18 games with Oakland. For his MLB career he is 6-18 with a 5.33 ERA, 102 K, 1.60 WHIP in 148.2 IP over 53 games. He was originally drafted by the Athletics in the second round in 2008. Ross turned 25 on April 22.
Kirby-Jones is a first baseman who played 2012 at Class A Advanced Stockton. He hit .248/.382/.461 with 21 HR, 69 RBI, 62 R, 0 SB in 115 games at Stockton. He was originally drafted by the Athletics in the ninth round in 2010. Kirby-Jones turned 24 on October 2nd.
Parrino is a 2B\3B\SS who has two seasons MLB experience all with the Padres. He split 2012 between Triple A Tucson and San Diego. He hit .328/.400/.464 with 1 HR, 32 RBI, 43 R, 6 SB in 65 games at Tuscon and hit .207/.316/.276 with 1 HR, 6 RBI, 9 R, 1 SB in 55 games with San Diego. He was originally drafted by the Padres in the 26th round in 2007. Parrino turned 27 on October 31.
LHP Werner split 2012 between Double A San Antonio, Triple A Tucson and San Diego. He was 4-8 with a 3.23 ERA, 89 K, 1.28 WHIP in 103.0 IP over 18 games with San Antonio, was 1-2 with a 5.79 ERA, 20 K, 1.37 WHIP in 23.1 IP over 4 games with Tucson and was 2-3 with a 5.58 ERA, 35 K, 1.46 WHIP in 40.1 IP over 8 games with San Diego. He originally signed with the Padres as an amateur free agent in 2010. Werner will be 26 on February 25.
