Mike Trout 2012 AL Rookie of Year

Mike Trout of the Los Angles Angels was named the American League Rookie of the Year after receiving all 28 first place votes by the Baseball Writers Association of America which gave him the maximum 140 points. The next closest were Yoenis Cespedes of the Athletics with 63 points and Yu Darvish of the Rangers with 46 points. Others receiving votes were Wei-Yin Chen of the Orioles with two points and Jarrod Parker of the Athletics with one point. 

The outfielder started 2012 with Triple A Salt Lake where he hit .403/.467/.623 with 1 HR, 13 RBI, 21 R, 6 SB in 20 games. After his late April call up he hit .326/.399/.564 with 30 HR, 83 RBI, 129 R, 49 SB in 139 games with the Angels. He was originally drafted by the Angels with the 25th pick of the first round in 2009. Trout turned 21 on August 7th.
