Jake Brigham traded to Rangers

Jake Brigham was traded by the Chicago Cubs to the Texas Rangers on November 20, 2012. In exchange the Cubs received Barret Loux and a player to be named later. The Rangers are getting their former prospect back after trading him in July for catcher Geovany Soto.

RHP Brigham started 2012 with the Rangers 2012 team in Frisco and was 5-5 with a 4.28 ERA, 116 K, 1.35 WHIP in 124.0 IP over 21 games. After the trade to the Cubs he pitched with their Double A team in Tennessee and was shelled hard in two starts going 0-2 with a 19.64 ERA, 3 K, 4.09 WHIP in 3.2 IP over 2 games. He was originally drafted by the Rangers in the sixth round in 2006. Brigham will be 25 on February 10.

RHP Loux pitched with the Rangers Double A team in Frisco in 2012. He was 14-1 with a 3.47 ERA, 100 K, 1.27 WHIP in 127.0 IP over 25 games. Loux had been drafted by the Diamondbacks with the sixth pick of the first round in 2010 but was not signed due to injury concerns. He then signed with the Rangers as a free agent. Loux turned 23 on April 6th.
