Yamaico Navarro traded to Orioles

Yamaico Navarro was traded by the Pittsburgh Pirates to the Baltimore Orioles on November 30, 2012. In exchange the Pirates received Jhondaniel Medina.

Navarro is a SS/3B/OF with three seasons of MLB experience playing with the Pirates, Royals and Red Sox. He split 2012 between Triple A Indianapolis and Pittsburgh. He hit .279/.366/.491 with 9 HR, 35 RBI, 41 R, 9 SB in 66 games at Indianapolis and hit .160/.232/.220 with 1 HR, 4 RBI, 4 R, 0 SB in 29 games at Pittsburgh. For his MLB career he has hit .191/.244/.250 with 2 HR, 18 RBI, 16 R, 0 SB in 71 games. He was originally signed by the Red Sox as an amateur free agent in 2005 out of the Dominican Republic. Navarro turned 25 on October 31.

RHP Medina pitched 2012 for the Orioles Gulf Coast Rookie team and the Class A team Aberdeen. He was 1-3 with a 3.72 ERA, 47 K, 1.09 WHIP, 2 SV in 46.0 IP over 10 games with GLC Orioles and was 0-0 with a 9.00 ERA, 3 K, 1.50 WHIP in 4.0 IP in one game at Aberdeen. He originally signed with the Orioles as an amateur free agent in 2009 out of Venezuela. Medina will be 20 on February 8th.
