Jeff Kobernus was traded by the Boston Red Sox to the Detroit Tigers on December 6, 2012, In exchange the Red Sox received Justin Henry.
Kobernus is a second baseman who had just been acquired by the Red Sox in the Rule 5 draft from the Washington Nationals. In 2012 he played for the Nationals Double A team Harrisburg and hit .282/.325/.333 with 1 HR, 19 RBI, 41 R, 42 SB in 82 games. He was originally drafted by the Nationals in the second round in 2009. Kobernus turned 24 on June 30.
Henry is a 2B\3B\OF who played in 2012 for the Tigers Double A team Toledo. He hit .300/.372/.357 with 1 HR, 38 RBI, 72 R, 22 SB in 131 games. He was originally drafted by the Tigers in the ninth round in 2007. Henry turned 27 on April 30.
