Mike Kickham traded to Mariners

Mike Kickham was traded by the Chicago Cubs to the Seattle Mariners on January 14, 2014. In exchange the Cubs received Lars Huijer.

LHP Kickham split 2014 between Triple A Fresno and the Giants. He was 8-8, 4.43 ERA, 131 K, 1.58 WHIP, .290 BAA in 148.1 IP over 27 games at Fresno and 0-0, 22.50 ERA, 1 K, 4.50 WHIP, .533 BAA in 2.0 IP over 2 games with the Giants. Over two MLB seasons with the Giants he was 0-3, 10.98 ERA, 30 K, 2.14 WHIP, .370 BAA in 30.1 IP over 14 games. He was originally drafted by the Giants in the sixth round in 2010 and selected off waivers by the Cubs in December 2014. Kickham turned 26 on December 12.

RHP Huijer split 2014 between Class A Clinton and Class A Advanced High Desert. He was 4-5, 4.02 ERA, 44 K, 1.30 WHIP, .230 BAA in 71.2 IP over 16 games at Clinton and 2-4, 6.54 ERA, 32 K, 1.83 WHIP, .324 BAA in 52.1 IP over 12 games at High Desert. He originally signed with the Mariners in 2011 as an amateur free agent out of Netherlands. Huijer will be 22 on September 22.
