Shawn Kelley was traded by the Seattle Mariners to the New York Yankees on February 13, 2013. In exchange the Mariners received Abraham Almonte.
RHP Kelley has fours seasons MLB experience all with the Mariners. In 2012 he was 2-4 with a 3.25 ERA, 45 K, 1.31 WHIP in 44.1 IP over 47 games. For his MLB career he is 10-9 with a 3.52 ERA, 122 K, 1.25 WHIP in 128.0 IP over 120 games. He was originally drafted by the Mariners in the 13th round in 2007. Kelley will be 29 on April 26.
Almonte is an outfielder who split 2012 between Rookie Gulf Coast and Double A Trenton, He hit .222/.300//333 with 0 HR, 0 RBI, 2 R, 2 SB in 7 games at Gulf Coast and hit .276/.350/.392 with 4 HR, 25 RBI, 47 RBI, 30 SB in 78 games at Trenton. He originally signed with the Yankees as an amateur free agent in 2005 out of the Dominican Republic. Almonte will be 24 on June 27.
