Charles H (Red) Ruffing was inducted into the MLB Hall of Fame class of 1967 along with Branch Rickey and Lloyd Waner. Ruffing was RHP with 22 seasons experience pitching with the Boston Red Sox (1924-1930), New York Yankees (1930-1942, 1945-1946) and Chicago White Sox (1947). He missed the 1943-1944 seasons while serving in the United States Army Air Forces during World War II. For his MLB career he was 273-225 with a 3.80 ERA, 1987 K, 1.34 WHIP, 16 SV, 335 complete games, 45 shut outs in 4344.0 IP over 624 games.

I believe his best three seasons were 1937 when he was 20-7 with a 2.98 ERA, 131 K, 1.21 WHIP, 22 complete games, 4 shut outs in 256.1 IP over 31 games, 1938 when he was 21-7 with a 3.31 ERA, 127 K, 1.33 WHIP, 22 complete games, 3 shut outs in 247.1 IP over 31 games and 1939 when he was 21-7 with a 2.93 ERA, 95 K, 1.23 WHIP, 22 complete games, 5 shut outs in 233.1 IP over 28 games.

Ruffing led the American League in wins in 1938. He led the AL in strikeouts in 1932 (190). He led the AL in shut outs in 1939.
