Waite Hoyt was inducted into the MLB Hall of Fame class of 1969 along with Roy Campanella, Stanley Coveleski and Stan Musial. Hoyt was a RHP with 21 seasons MLB experience pitching with the New York Giants (1918, 1932), Boston Red Sox (1919-1920), New York Yankees (1921-1930), Detroit Tigers (1930-1931), Philadelphia Athletics (1931), Pittsburgh Pirates (1933-1937) and Brooklyn Dodgers (1937-1938). For his MLB career he was 237-182 with a 3.59 ERA, 1206 K, 1.34 WHIP, 52 SV, 226 complete games, 26 shut outs in 3762.1 IP over 674 games.
I believe his three best seasons were 1927 when he was 22-7 with a 2.63 ERA, 86 K, 1.15 WHIP, 1 SV, 23 complete games, 3 shut outs in 256.1 IP over 36 games, 1928 when he was 23-7 with a 3.36 ERA, 67 K, 1.24 WHIP, 8 SV, 19 complete games, 3 shut outs in 273.0 IP over 42 games and 1934 when he was 15-6 with a 2.93 ERA, 105 K, 1.19 WHIP, 5 SV, 8 complete games, 3 shut outs in 190.2 IP over 48 games.
Hoyt led the American League in wins in 1927. He led the AL in shut outs in 1928.
Hoyt won the World Series Championship with the Yankees in 1923, 1927 and 1928.
