William B McKechnie was inducted into the MLB Hall of Fame class of 1962 along with Bob Feller, Jackie Robinson and Edd Roush. McKechnie was a 3B\2B\1B with 11 seasons MLB experience playing with the Pittsburgh Pirates (1907, 1910-1912, 1918, 1920), Boston Braves (1913), New York Yankees (1913), Indianapolis Hoosiers (1914), Newark Peppers (1915), New York Giants (1916) and Cincinnati Reds (1916-1917). For his MLB career he hit .251/.301/.313 with 8 HR, 240 RBI, 319 R, 127 SB in 796 games.
However it was his career as a manager that warranted induction to the Hall of Fame. He was manager of the Pepper (1915) with a 54-45 record, Pirates (1922-1926) with a 409-293 record, St Louis Cardinals (1928-1929) with a 129-88 record, Boston Braves\Bees (1930-1937) with a 560-666 record and Cincinnati Reds (1938-1946) with a 744-631 record. His 1723 wins ranks 13th all time. McKechnie won the World Series Championship with the Pirates in 1925 and Reds in 1940.
